Care
Look after it, it looks after you.
Ball fibre is easy to care for. Four habits keep a Larkwell pillow full, fresh and springy for longer.
- Fluff every morning
Push the short ends together a few times and give it a shake. The fibre balls separate and the pillow springs back to full height.
- Air in the sun monthly
An hour of sunshine on a dry day freshens the fibre and draws out moisture. Turn it over halfway.
- Gentle wash at 30°
Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30 °C with a mild detergent. Dry it completely before use.
- No bleach
Bleach weakens both the cotton shell and the fibre. Use a mild detergent only.
Washing
How to wash a ball fibre pillow
- Check the seams before washing. If a seam is open, message us instead of washing it.
- Wash gently at 30 °C with a small amount of mild liquid detergent. A front-loading machine is kinder than a top loader with an agitator. Washing two pillows together keeps the drum balanced.
- Rinse well so no detergent stays in the fibre.
- Dry completely. Dry flat in the sun, turning it and shaking it every hour or so, until it is dry right through. A damp centre can smell and clump.
- Fluff it back by pushing the ends together and shaking it, then use it as normal.
Everyday tips
- Use a pillowcase, and a pillow protector if you can. They are easier to wash than the pillow itself.
- Do not use bleach; it weakens the cotton shell and the fibre.
- Fluff it every morning. Ball fibre is designed to spring back, and a daily shake keeps the balls moving freely.
